JENNIFER MORRILL, PH.D.
ABOUT ME
Although I have lived in Utah most of my adult life, I grew up in
southern California.  I completed my bachelor's degree at the
University of California, Riverside campus.  I majored in Human
Development, which at that time included course work in
Sociology, Psychology and Education.  I had the opportunity
to gain experience in two different elementary school
classrooms, and also completed an undergraduate internship
on the pediatric floor of the Loma Linda University Medical
Center, where I worked primarily with children who had
cancer.  I then attended
Brigham Young University in Provo,
UT to earn my Master's degree in Psychology.  My Master's
thesis evaluated the effectiveness of two different
interventions on decreasing children's fear of needles.  After
completing this degree I moved north to the Salt Lake area,
and attended the
University of Utah, where I earned my PhD in
Counseling Psychology.

While working on my degree, I had opportunities to gain
practical experience in many different settings, including
Primary Children's Medical Center, the University Counseling
Center, the Disability Resource Center, the Salt Lake
Community College Skills Center, and in a private practice.  I
completed my pre-doctoral internship at the University
Neuropsychiatric Institute, which included rotations in the
child day-treatment and residential units, adolescent inpatient
and day-treatment units, and adult inpatient and intensive
units.  Other work experience has included five years with the
Utah State Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and my current
position as Psychologist at Provo Canyon School, where I
have been since 2004.  I have worked my part-time private
practice since January 2007.

In addition to my professional opportunities, my personal
interest in working with individuals coping with illness and
disability has been shaped by my own experiences.  I was
diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at one year of
age, and have thus had a lifetime of being a child, a teenager,
and an adult who must cope with numerous physical and
emotional challenges.
